Round of 16Runner-up Group A — Runner-up Group BEverton StadiumTime to be announcedThe city’s part in the championship
Liverpool stages four group fixtures and a last-16 tie at Everton Stadium. Its programme does not use Anfield or Everton’s former stadium. If a ticket or travel guide uses the current Hill Dickinson Stadium name, it is referring to the EURO venue shown here.
The group fixtures involve four different groups. The last-16 match then pairs the runners-up from Groups A and B. This matters when planning around a team: appearing in Liverpool during the group phase does not automatically put that team back here in the knockouts. The city’s final scheduled match is the last-16 tie.
From group football to the last 16
The group fixtures finish on 20 June and the last-16 tie follows on 24 June. Liverpool’s closing match pairs two group runners-up, giving it a different shape from the last-16 venues following group winners. A successful side leaves the city for a Cardiff quarter-final; the Liverpool programme itself is complete after the tie.
Planning the stadium journey
Merseytravel gives several walking approaches to the ground, including Sandhills, Bank Hall and Moorfields, and recommends Sandhills for the post-match return in its current guidance. Check the EURO-specific transport plan when published. Allow for managed queues rather than timing a departure using only the distance on a map.
Choosing your dates
Use the first and last match dates as the edges of the city programme, then check the individual fixture you want. A date-only listing does not supply a starting time. Where a knockout match is involved, the end of play may also include extra time and a penalty shoot-out.
Between the matches
The central waterfront around Royal Albert Dock combines historic dock buildings with museums and galleries. It is a useful part of a Liverpool visit between fixtures, but Royal Albert Dock and Everton’s Bramley-Moore Dock venue are not the same destination. Keep the stadium address in the matchday plan even if both sightseeing and football are described as waterfront activities.
