Team history
The Faroe Islands won their first competitive international 1–0 against Austria in September 1990 in Landskrona, Sweden, a defining event in Faroese football.
The team later beat Greece both away and at home during EURO 2016 qualifying. Those results were followed by promotion from League D in the 2020/21 Nations League. A EURO or World Cup finals debut is still to come, but these milestones show why the Faroes' record cannot be reduced to the size of their population.
