Team history
Norway reached the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals by eliminating Côte d’Ivoire and Brazil before losing to England after extra time, improving on their 1998 round-of-16 finish.
The earlier high point included a 2–1 victory over Brazil in the 1998 group stage. Norway's EURO history is shorter, with a group-stage appearance in 2000. Erling Haaland's era therefore sits alongside, rather than replaces, the generations associated with Ole Gunnar Solskjær and John Arne Riise.
