Team history
Davor Šuker scored six goals to finish as the 1998 World Cup’s leading scorer as Croatia took third place on their World Cup debut.
A later generation led by Luka Modrić reached the 2018 World Cup final and won bronze in 2022. Croatia also contested the 2023 Nations League final. Their EURO record has been less successful, with quarter-final appearances in 1996 and 2008 still the best finishes despite those achievements elsewhere.
