EURO 2028 qualifying
England are one of the EURO 2028 host associations, but hosting does not guarantee an individual place in the finals. The team enter qualifying, and the reserved-host provisions apply only under the conditions in UEFA's regulations. Wembley is due to stage the final; that is a venue allocation, not confirmation that England will play there.

Team history
England reached the EURO 2020 and EURO 2024 finals without winning the European title: Italy won the EURO 2020 final on penalties, and Spain won the 2024 final 2–1 in Berlin.
The men's team's history began with the first official international, a goalless meeting with Scotland in Glasgow in 1872. Later generations supplied different landmarks, from the 1990 World Cup and EURO 1996 semi-finals to the 2026 World Cup bronze medal. England beat France in that third-place match, adding another major-tournament finish to their record.
England compete separately from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in UEFA and FIFA men's tournaments. These are four national associations with distinct squads, qualification campaigns and records; there is no combined United Kingdom team in EURO qualifying.
