Greece won EURO 2004 under Otto Rehhagel, eliminating France and Czechia before Angelos Charisteas scored the winner against hosts Portugal in the final.
The European triumph remains the central achievement, but Greece also reached the EURO 2012 quarter-finals and the 2014 World Cup round of 16. In Brazil they lost to Costa Rica on penalties. Theodoros Zagorakis and Giorgos Karagounis connect the title-winning side with a longer period of competitive performances.
